Long

Donna and Cheryl wait to take off at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

I never thought I'd travel for so long and so far! What an experience!! I think we literally ate breakfast at least three times and drank more coffee than I ever have in my life before we flew in to Auckland!

After going through customs in Auckland, we flew on to Sydney, then boarded a bus to Hervey Bay. The bus ride was an adventure in itself! I sat next to the bus driver, Brian, and probably asked him a thousand questions. He was very knowledgeable and gracious in answering my questions, adding his own brand of humor along the way. (Do you know why the beer is named 'XXXX'? The fellow who made it could not spell b-e-e-r!) Our trip north required a detour around an accident and we got to see even more of the beautiful country we are visiting.

We arrived at the Korrawinga Community early evening and were warmly greeted with hugs and kisses from our hosts who helped us settle in. When we finally went to bed, we slept in a prone position for the first time in three days. I, for one, slept like a rock!

Happy Birthday, America!!

Word for the day: L O N G!!
