Earthy
Tuesday, 06 July, 2004 by Donna V. Whitmore
A trip to the "bush" occupied most of the day with a stop for lunch of meat pies and then a tour of Hervey Bay. I found a pumpkin squash and beautiful avocados when we stopped for petrol. Joe, our guide, and Auntie Francis and two other Aunties who came with us were delightful. Joe is so knowledgeable - Auntie Francis too. They answered a thousand questions and offered volumes of information. Sunset over the ocean was lovely - some smoke was visible from bush fires.
Some of the flowers and trees are much like the ones I know, but many are new to me. Winter in this area of Australia is very like that in Clarkdale. The only rain (since landing in Brisbane) was inside our tent (from condensation). Even that was welcome, as in Arizona there has been so little. Rachel and Brian are suffering with colds.
The day was a wonderful experience!
